Turned newels are decorative newels with both round and square sections. These newels tend to be more "ornate". Turned newels are usually considered "traditional". Box Newels are considered more "transitional" and Blank Newels are used for a "modern/contemporary" look.

Step 1
Line up both rails with the bolt (already installed) and the hole (pre-drilled) an insert the bolt.

Step 2
Put spacer (black plastic) on (rounded side facing the bolt entry) and put on nut (using the rail-bolt wrench makes it easier; see instructions written with rail-bolt set).

Step 3
Use rail-bolt wrench to tighten nut. If you're using glue, put the glue on the ends before tightening.

Step 4
Since the plug is on the bottom, the finale result looks great!
